This is my honest review on one time commissions vs. residual income and why I think both can be great depending on how you choose to promote.
One thing I dislike about one time commissions is that you have to repeatedly recruit which after a while gets pretty tiresome. One benefit however, you don't need much money to make a profit.

On the other hand, residual income is much less work with higher rewards. It may cost a few dollars more but over time can effectively build you an sustainable income stream.
